I don't tend to baby my gear too much and most of my filters end up scratched for all sorts of reasons! (Mainly throwing them around in a panic as the sun sets).

The metal part of the holder is extremely nicely made, with a brushed, super smooth finish to it. Things just slide right in I'd say there's not much more chance of damage than the Cokin ones. Ultimately, if you get them sandy or gritty then any holder can do damage at the contact points.

Re: Hitech 100mm Modular Filter Holder Review

I recently got this filter holder after owning a Cokin P style holder and noticed that the bottom filter is designed to slide right against the base whereas the Cokin P style left some space. I'm hesitant to slide it up against the base for fear of scratching the filter up. Have you experienced any scuffing of the bottom filter?

For now, I think I'll put in 3 slots and use the top 2 until I know that I'm not going to scuff the filter up on the bottom.

Re: Introducing the new F-Stop Tilopa BC photo backpack

Generally I believe the Tilopa to be too small for overnight, let along multi-day overnight. You say minimal, but presume you still have food, a stove, water tent, mat, sleeping bag... Of course, you could strap things to the outside but it's cumbersome.

Airline carry-on is no issue. I travelled all over the world without problems.

Re: Introducing the new F-Stop Tilopa BC photo backpack

Hey Dan!

I am looking at buying a tilopa bc or an ajna with a small ICU. I have a super compact tent and sleeping bag and intend to use the pack as multi day overnight trip bag. I prefer to travel in a minimalistic fashion.

I am concerned about the amount of space inside the pack and whether or not it will be aloud on the plane as carry on.

Any insight would be greatly helpful.

Thank you

Re: Canon 7D MkII Vs 70D

I have a 6D, never needed WiFi, GPS or intervalometer. The 4.5 fps sucks for my Grandson's baseball. He is 7 and the game is so slow. I got awesome IQ of Seattle Mariners baseball but the lack of action at the right time...
Street photography is best done with a telephoto, the people don't see you far away. Now take a picture with a super wide while your phone does the shutter and get that beautiful girl on the edge of the photo and if she ever saw it (her now super wide body, ok for a car not a woman), you would be murdered and not in your sleep.
I had a camera with a touch screen and it was a gimmick, with my fingers and small buttons on the screen I didn't always hit the right button...slowed things down...same with focusing. Also the touch screen didn't always respond to the first touch...slowed things down. I have an iPad 4 and that touch screen can drive me to bonkers and yet it is one of the very best touch screens you can get. I'll take buttons and dials...much more responsive.
The flicker free sync is a huge innovation. Finally Canon has added two card slots...I wish the 6D had the two card slots even if both of them would have been SD.
The F8 center point is great. 65 AF points compared to the pitiful 6D's, wow.
The Canon 30D is more than enough camera for most to get a life times of memories...but people always want the best for nothing, hoping that the competition doesn't one up you with a useless stat...DxO for example. Just try and distinguish a picture taken with a Canon 30D with an L lens and a 1Dx with a cheap plastic lens...99.9999% of the people take the 30D picture. LENSES make the biggest difference for IQ.
AF points and FPS make the biggest difference for sports, wildlife and moving kids.

Thank you for the time you put in. Best non-biased site.

Re: An In-Depth Look at the New F-Stop Guru

I get camera bags to test out all the time. This review is also 4 years old, so it's possible there are changes to the packs internal dimensions in that time. Best to call them.

Re: An In-Depth Look at the New F-Stop Guru

Hi! Thanks for the review and indeed unconventional, detailed photos.
You mention a 15" laptop would fit, whereas I've read everywhere only 13" fit. Have you tried to squeeze in a 15.6" laptop? My typical post-processing workflow is 5-10 minutes per photo. I'm a big fan of getting it right in-camera, which is why I use things like neutral density filters, graduated filers and polarizers. You'll often see me sharing photos of the back of my camera on my social channels, because I get a real kick out of getting it right. That said, when it comes to creating a panoramic image like this one, there's considerable benefits in resolution, to taking multiple shots and using Lightroom CC to combine them all together to achieve this wider shot. You just can't do that in a single shot :)

Re: Stay Out There With Adobe & The Creative Cloud

I guess it's all coming down to not how well you can take photographs but how well you can manipulate software. Congrats on getting a well deserved feature. I've actually spoken to a few people who have been selected and the question I've been most intrigued about is: where did they find your image? Others I have spoken to said that they had their images on Instagram and Flickr (the latter would obviously make it easier for them to find out which camera was used) - any idea where they might have found yours?

Re: Mindshift Gear’s New Rotation 180 Pro – Full Review

Great thanks Dan, I was looking in to the Tilopa BC/Loka, after doing some configuration drawings I don't think either of those can fit the same amount of gear as the Mindshift, I am looking to fit 2 x 1DX, 14mm, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, 300 with possible room left for a 50mm or 2x600Ex speedlites, I think the Mindshift can fit this, whereas trying different ICU configs like 2x small or 1 large in the F-Stop they just wont fit everything, this is all ofcourse for traveling, I wouldn't be hiking with all that which means removing the 300, 70-200, 50mm and speedlites I can easily fit my filters and misc items.

Thanks again.

Re: Mindshift Gear’s New Rotation 180 Pro – Full Review

Still a big fan and still using the exact same bag. It has circumnavigated the world now several times with no problem. When I fly I just remove all the outer accessories to make it look a bit slimmer. VS fstop, depends which model you refer to. I do like the newer Loka UL a lot, but it is a bare bones pack that is more suitable to longer hiking.

Re: Mindshift Gear’s New Rotation 180 Pro – Full Review

Hey Dan, I know its a few years old but are you still using this? vs the F-Stop? how did you go with traveling and on airlines, any issues with the size?
